Why name a company Airheads of California?
This comes out of waking up at 3 in the morning, with nothing better to do than thinking about combinations of funny images and ideas. Artist Janet Allinger of Santa Cruz has skillfully translated some of those ideas with her cartoon style to create images that are both fun and entertaining, if a little outrageous and twisted.
Who else could be "googled" and "not feel a thing?" We hope this venture allows those who can't live in California to become honorary members and laugh along with us. It's a state of mind.
Janet Allinger is known for her irreverent pop art paintings, graphic design and digital art. Her work has been shown at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Winfield Gallery, Thacher Gallery, Biddle Gallery, La Bussola, Red Ink Studios, and the Kellogg University art gallery. Working primarily in acrylics, Janet's images have been featured in Marilyn in Art by Roger G. Taylor, the Woman Made Gallery's "Her Mark" date book, and Sunset Magazine. In 2005, she received the Gail Rich Award.
Chris Winfield is a gallery owner known for his educated, eclectic eye, erratic sleep patterns and wicked sense of humor.
